Some of the commonest craniofacial anomalies are craniofacial clefts which involves the soft tissue, bones of face and skull like craniofacial cleft I, II, III, IV, VII and many more combination. Some of these clefts involve eyelids and ears. These anomalies need soft tissue correction in early childhood and correction of bony defect at later date.

Craniosynostosis is another common anomaly, which includes the skull bone. There is defect in the growth of the one or more skull bones leading to deformation of the skull, which also affect the shape of face. Occasionally these deformities lead to increase in tension in fluid spaces of brain and may affect the growth of the brain. It can also damage the vision. Many children form more complex deformities and part of syndromic.

The common soft tumours of craniofacial area are vascular malformation, neurofibroma and other facial bone tumours. These tumours can extensively involve the facial structures and facial bone. They may need extensive resection and major surgery and it depend on the extent of problem.

Craniofacial Anomalies

Craniofacial anomalies and deformities involve mainly the face and the skull. They are either present at birth, or developed lateral due to birth defect or following trauma, accident and tumours of face and skull.
